Your data stays on your hardware

The Loose Ends engine runs on your own Mac. Your messages, mail, calendar, contacts, and everything derived from them live in a database on that Mac and nowhere else. We do not operate servers that store, receive, or process your content. There is no Loose Ends cloud, no analytics service, and no account with us.

Who your data touches, and why

• Google — the engine reads your Gmail and Google Calendar using a Google Cloud project that belongs to you alone, created during setup. Your mail moves between your Mac and Google, with no one in between.
• Anthropic — the engine sends portions of your messages to the Claude API, under your own API key and account, to find commitments and draft moves. That relationship and its terms are between you and Anthropic.
• Apple — push notifications are delivered through Apple's push service via our relay, described below.

The push relay carries no content

Self-hosted engines can't sign Apple push notifications, so we run one small relay. It is content-free by construction: its API has no title or body field. Every notification it forwards says a fixed placeholder — your phone then fetches the real words directly from your own Mac. The relay keeps no database; it sees an anonymous install identifier, a device token, and nothing about you.

The iPhone app

The app talks only to your own engine, over your local network or your own tailnet. Its demo mode runs entirely on fictional data bundled with the app. The app contains no third-party SDKs, no trackers, and no advertising.

What we can see

Nothing about your content. If you open a GitHub issue or email support, we see what you choose to tell us.

Deleting your data

It's yours, on your Mac: delete the database (or run lifeline purge) and it's gone. Removing the app from your phone removes everything the phone held. The relay has nothing to delete.

Changes

If this policy changes, the change lands in the open-source repository first, with history.
